How to Make Your Own Web Site From Scratch

This is what you will need to start to make your own web site from scratch.

First off you need a Domain Name. Start in Google search, "Top Ten Domain Name Sites".

When picking out your Domain name have a list of names you would like to use. Put the best one first. You want to use a DOT COM, not a DOT NET, or DOT GOV.

Now you will need a Web Host so your Domain Name will be on the World Wide Web, (WWW.) Again go to Google and search for, "Top Ten Web Hosting". Some cost $ and some are free.

In choosing a Host make sure they have a CPanel, and Fantastico.
You will need this later.

To understand the World Wide Web, it starts from your:
Computer ---> to your Hosting ---> to WWW.

Once your Domain and Hosting is setup you can learn how to make your own site from scratch creating a simple build web site.

The next thing you need to make your own design is a Web Editor.
Again go to Google search, Top Ten Web Editors.

You need an Web Editor to make your own site from scratch for a web editor will take care of all the HTML that computers use to read your site.

I use KompoZer 0.7.10. They have a Free Download, but make sure you get version 0.7.10 not version 8. It is very simple to use.

OK, this will take care of all the HTML you need to make your own design.

The next step on how to make your own site from scratch, is to learn how to save your files correctly.

You will go on your desktop and right click and ad a "New Folder"

Right click again on the new folder and select rename. Name your new folder the domain name you created. Now find all the images you want to use and put them in your folder, and only in that folder!!

If you have articles for your site these go into your folder too.

Now to recap: you have a Domain Name, a Hosting account, Web Site Editor, and your folder.

Publishing your first web page is exciting. All you have to do is put some words on your site and click on save, and then on to publish.

For this you will need an FTP client software. I use FileZilla. It's easy to understand, and easy to use plus it is Free.

Fill in your domain name, and the user name from your hosting, plus password. When you are connected to your hosting you will have on the left side of your screen files from your computer and on the right side of your screen will be the files of your hosting.

Go to the public_html folder in hosting double click and open it up.

Go to your folder and with your mouse left press and drag your index.html to the public_html folder. And let go.

Now it is on the WWW.

Go back to KompoZer or your editor, and ad more content and images. Have fun with it! You can always change anything you want to for it is your own design.

Logo Strike team members are friendly and very easy going. We often asked for things to change in the last minute and they always got it done to a high standard. We will be working with them again.
