In Website Navigation You Should Avoid 3 Important Areas

There are many do's and don't's for website navigation that factor into the overall success of your online business. You can get yourself headed in the right direction immediately if you avoid all of the above mistakes from the beginning.

Here are 3 areas to avoid when creating navigation for your website:

1. Forgetting about SEO.  Search engine optimization is extremely important for your website navigation. By choosing page names and link anchor text that incorporates appropriate keywords, you'll be able to greatly increase your success in the search engines. Therefore always keep in mind SEO and how you can factor in various optimizing strategies into your website navigation.

2. Keyword stuffing.  At the same time, don't make the mistake of taking SEO too far and keyword stuffing. Keyword stuffing is when you just jam in all of the keywords you can regardless of how it looks or what it reads like. Use your keywords naturally and don't overdo it, otherwise you'll be penalized in the search engine results and visitors will be turned off as well.

3. Failing to lead and ask.  One of the biggest mistakes that people make with their website navigation is failing to point people in a certain situation, or failing to have a call to action. Your online business has a purpose, either to sell or to promote something in the majority of cases. Therefore, you need to actively work to make that happen as opposed to passively waiting for visitors to figure out how to take action for themselves.
